Júlio Caineta has both a Degree and a Master Degree in Mining and Geological Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST/UTL). He worked in the Centre for Natural Resources and the Environment (CERENA/IST), where he had also developed his master’s thesis, focusing on geostatistical estimation and simulation methods for the modelling and assessment of natural resources (e.g., oil reservoirs) and of environmental issues (e.g., air and water pollutants). He then joined the MagIC research centre (NOVA IMS), being responsible for the development and implementation of algorithms for the homogenisation and interpolation of climate data. Currently, he is part of the LabNT team (also at NOVA IMS), working on a decision support system project for the public transportation sector.
